Intergroup Reps (IGRs)

What is an IGR?

An Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) Intergroup Representative (IGR) is a trusted servant selected by their home group to serve as a communication link between the group and the local Intergroup or Central Office. The Intergroup Rep attends regular Intergroup meetings, shares information about A.A. services, events, and Twelfth Step opportunities, and brings the group’s voice into discussions about how the local A.A. community can better carry the message to the still-suffering alcoholic. This service position helps strengthen unity within A.A. by ensuring groups stay informed, connected, and involved in essential service work such as phone hotlines, meeting directories, public information, and cooperation with the professional community. Serving as an Intergroup Representative is an important A.A. service commitment that supports the Fellowship’s primary purpose: to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.
