Dallas Intergroup Association (DIA) is your local A.A. service office that involves partnership among groups in our community—just as A.A. groups themselves are partnerships of individuals. As a “group of groups,” DIA’s primary purpose is to aid A.A. groups in their common purpose of carrying the A.A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
To make AA service work possible we:
Operate a 24/7 hotline for AA information and support
Maintain updated schedules on the Meeting Guide app and our website.
Coordinate 12th Step and service opportunities
Provide local access to AA literature and sobriety medallions with a bookstore, open Monday-Friday, 10-5.
Encourage participation in local AA events via our online events calendar and flyer distribution
Employ full and part-time office staff, and coordinate AA volunteers to ensure uninterrupted services.
In short, yes! Service centers usually have no authority on their own account; they derive it from participating groups. Intergroup/central offices are essentially A.A. service entities, “directly responsible to those they serve,” as described in Tradition Nine. Local group representatives (IGRs) reflect the groups’ conscience in the service center operations. In most communities, an intergroup/central office committee or steering committee is set up to handle the administrative activities of the service office. At the Dallas Intergroup, the Board of Trustees fills this steering committee role. The board holds regularly scheduled meetings and deals with general policy and plans. Periodically, the board reports to group representatives on intergroup/central office problems and accomplishments. It is extremely important to keep a two-way flow of information going between the intergroup/central office and groups.

We are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Our work depends on a team of 25–30 dedicated volunteers who help with sales, stocking, and other essential duties. We always welcome new volunteers, especially those willing to serve as emergency standby.

The Central Office is staffed by a full-time Office Manager, supported by an Assistant Manager. In keeping with A.A.’s Eighth Tradition, service centers may employ “special workers” to carry out administrative tasks.
The Manager and Assistant Manager are accountable to the Board of Trustees, who report to the Intergroup Representatives, who in turn are accountable to their home groups.
The Office Manager handles the office’s daily operations and finances. When decisions affect A.A. groups or members directly, they are brought to the Intergroup Representatives for a vote.
For example, a past vote allowed the office to sell medallions, non-AA literature, and a full catalog of AAWS and Grapevine materials—including foreign-language publications.
We maintain updated meeting schedules on our website and through the Meeting Guide app.
Groups only need to meet Tradition Three to be included:
The group consists of people who have a desire to stop drinking.
Meetings are open to all alcoholics.
The group has no outside affiliation.
Importantly, financial contributions are not required for a group to be listed.
Your Central Office is often the first point of contact for the public, schools, hospitals, and local institutions seeking information about A.A. Through our standing committees, we provide speakers, literature, and guidance to carry A.A.’s message where it is needed.
We also receive many calls and emails from alcoholics who want help. When someone reaches out, our 12th Step Initiative begins:
We ask the caller whether they want to talk to an A.A. member.
A volunteer—paired with a second member for safety—contacts the caller.
They meet at a neutral, safe location.
If the newcomer wishes, volunteers take them to a meeting.
This approach returns us to A.A.’s early spirit—person-to-person sponsorship rather than simply giving directions to the nearest meeting.
If you want to participate, please contact the office or complete our online form.
We also assist visitors to Dallas by offering meeting information, contacts, and occasional rides when possible.
Members often contact us for meeting schedules across the Dallas area and beyond. We continue to strengthen our outreach through committed volunteers and skilled office workers. As technology and needs evolve, we aim to remain both responsible and responsive.
While we manage finances, technology, and daily operations, we never lose sight of A.A.’s primary purpose: to help the alcoholic who still suffers.
You are always welcome. Visit the office to browse literature racks, talk with volunteers and staff, and enjoy a cup of A.A. coffee or a cold soda.
This is your Central Office.
Under the direction of the Dallas Intergroup Association, the Dallas Central Office serves the wider Dallas metro area. We support local A.A. groups and help anyone seeking A.A. information or a meeting to attend.
We always welcome volunteers to:
Assist in the office
Speak at groups
Help with Twelfth Step calls
Support committees
