We now have the newest title from Grapevine, One on One, AA Sponsorship in Action in stock. In this collection, AA members write about their experience with sponsorship, including how to choose one, getting the courage to ask someone to be a sponsor and much more. Ten chapters on this special one on one relationship considered vital to getting sober, staying connected and living a full, happy life. Great gift idea for your sponsor or sponsee!

The Grapevine has also issued a limited edition 25th Anniversary version of The Language of the Heart, Bill W’s Grapevine Writings. These are available in soft copy.

7th ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF WINNERS!!!

The trophies are engraved and ready to be presented to the winning groups. Let us know if you want us to present the trophy to your group or if you want to send a representative to pick yours up. Please let me know who will be picking up your trophy if that is what you want to do instead. (We will not release to a member that just happens to come in the office.)

Thanks to everyone for coming to the Chili Cook-off and making it a success! The winners of the 7th Annual DIA Chili Cook-off are:

Thanks to everyone who competed, the judges willing to taste a whole lot of chili/cornbread, and the members who came to share in the fun. The trophies are at the engravers and will presented to the winning groups when we get them back. I have no doubt our top three can take the Fort Worth winners, but we will have to wait and see!! Until then….

7th ANNUAL DIA CHILI COOK-OFF AND CORNBREAD CONTEST

The DIA Annual Chili Cook-off and Cornbread Contest will be held March 16th, 2013.

We will begin at 5pm at the Northway Christian Church, 7202 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. There is plenty of parking in front of the church. Chili and cornbread check-in will begin at 5pm. Please have chili in a crock pot or other container to keep it hot. All entries must be ready to eat. There will be no cooking on the premises. Judging will begin at 5:30pm. Remember, the top three entries will go up against Fort Worth in November. Dinner will begin at 6pm and Awards announced at 7pm. First, second and third place for the Chili winners will receive trophies and ribbons. The winner will be engraved on the permanent plaque that remains at the office. Our Cornbread winner will also receive a trophy. The speaker meeting will begin at 7:30pm. (Please note early versions of the flyer have wrong address! Sorry.) To enter your chili or cornbread, all you have to do is show up and register when you get there. See you Saturday!

Our speaker will be Harriet S, from the Cornerstone Group.

Please make sure you take home all containers and utensils you bring. The Intergroup has a hard enough time keeping up with what we bring! Cheese, crackers, chips and drinks will be furnished by the Dallas Intergroup. All you can eat for a donation of $5 to benefit the Dallas Central Office. The winners of the DIA Chili Cook-off have been challenged by Fort Worth AA to compete in their Chili-Cook-off sometime in November, and see if we can beat them. Bring it on!!

Thank you all very much for the support and help you have given the Dallas Intergroup Office in 2012. I would love to see more members join the Dallas Intergroup Association and participate in our Intergroup meetings. Do you know if your group is a member of the Intergroup? If your group does not attend IG Rep meetings, you are not a member. It is quite easy to become a member. That is the good news. As a member of the Dallas Intergroup Association you have monthly updates on the office, the DIA Board, upcoming events, committee needs and more. Please consider joining us. A group can join the Intergroup by sending a letter or email letting me know you want to be a member and then sending an Intergroup Rep to our meetings on the second Thursday of every month at 8pm. For more information email the Director at janis@aadallas.org or any of our Board Members. We will be happy to help.

Many thanks to all the Intergroup Reps that attended November’s meeting to elect five new members of the DIA Board. And thanks for bringing enough desserts to feed a hundred people!! We will be saying good-bye to some very hard working trustees in December: The board members rotating off will be :

NEW GRAPEVINE TITLE AVAILABLE

The Grapevine has come out with yet another new book! This one is titled: Happy, Joyous and Free; The Lighter Side of Sobriety. This collection is about learning to laugh in sobriety. Full of early mistakes, navigating drinking events, funny things sponsors say, interesting 12th Step calls, holiday adventures and more. The stories remind us not to take ourselves so seriously! The book is available for $10.

We had a great time at the 65th Anniversary Celebration of the Dallas Intergroup last Saturday. Plenty of food, fun and fellowship. The speakers were taped and CDs will be available very soon at the office. Donna H from Montana was our main AA speaker. Larry J and Bob C talked about the Responsibility Statement and the need for 12th Step Volunteers. The individual winner for the best dish was Margaret M. from the Clean Air Group. She received a Visa gift card for her efforts. The winner for the group with with the most participation was Cornerstone who also received a Visa gift card. Thanks to all our many volunteers and everyone that come out to help us celebrate. We will have our next anniversary on the second Saturday in September, 2013 and our speaker will be Sandy B, from Florida.
