START COOKING!!

IT IS TIME FOR THE 4TH ANNUAL DIA CHILI COOK OFF!

WHO WILL WIN THIS YEAR?  THE LAST THREE WINNERS:

2007:  THE LEGACY GROUP

2008:  THE TOWN NORTH GROUP

2009:  THE GEORGETOWN GROUP

2010:  ????????????????????????

WHO WILL BE ETCHED ON THE WINNERS PLAQUE THIS YEAR?  The Competition has been so close that it is anyone's guess.  There will be ribbons and prizes for the top three chilis and a "masked" photo in the DIAlog.  The chili has been wonderful in the past and we never have much left over which testifies to the talent of our chili cooks.  Get your group ready to win!  We have a new venue this year so hopefully we won't be stuffed in like a bunch of sardines in a can.  For some reason it tends to rain on our chili night, but it shouldn't make any difference at all with this location, which holds 200 people.

DIA Chili Cook Off:  APRIL 10, 2010, 6-10 PM

WESTSIDE CHRISTIAN CHURCH, 4711 WESTSIDE DRIVE, DALLAS 75209

(Mockingbird/Inwood area)  It is the same church that hosts the Sunday Morning Live Group.

(A special thanks to Jeff H. for all his help with this.  We are 99% sure of our speaker but the name will be posted in the next couple of days.  Flyers will be passed out at the Intergroup Meeting Thursday, March 11th.)

Website Hacked
Monday, 01 March 2010

Our website was down for awhile the end of last week after we had an attack by a hacker.  Luckily our IT guy, Keith, got everything up and running again ASAP.  We apologize for any problems it might have  caused to Nightwatcher's or anyone looking for a meeting.

As of today, the Freedom Group is now located at:  2232 N. Town East Blvd., Mesquite, TX 75150. Their meetings and phone remain the same.  Look for the Luby's Parking Lot and then the circle and triangle.  It should be a lot easier to find than the old location!

Our March book of the month will be Alcoholics Anonymous Comes of Age, a brief history of AA.  With the International Convention coming up fast, we thought this book might be a good one to read.  This first part of the book is co-founder Bill W's reminiscent sketch of the St. Louis convention of 1955.  The historic 1955 convention in St. Louis was when the founding members passed on to the entire Fellowship the responsibility for the three Legacies of Recovery, Unity, and Service.  The convention is seen through the eyes of some early non-alcoholics who influenced the Fellowship's history as well as Bill W.  The second part consists of Bill's three Convention talks on the Legacies of Recovery, Unity and Service and parts of his story.  With the national convention coming to our state, it will enable a lot of us to participate who might not have been able to make it to conventions much further away.  I don't know how San Antonio is going to hold all of us, but it will be great fun to find out!!  This book is an good history in many ways, but it might help you really appreciate the convention coming up in July.
